Renault Kwid: Kindle a sense of energy

The car was specially curated and designed by an engineering team in India. Led by Gerard Detour Bet, who was formerly a mathematician. He was described as “an innovator a minute” who led the development of the first-generation Dacia Logan. The Renault Kwid was launched in Chennai on 20th May 2015.

The name Kwid was chosen to ignite a sense of vigor and spiritedness, a connection to the outdoors. It’s in great demand and a popular choice due to its cost-effectiveness and comfortable interiors. The design is inspired by an SUV. The Renault Kwid was launched in India on September 24, 2015.

Each variant differs in cost, making it affordable for the buyers. A 38% sales record was seen in rural India. Its early sales were a success, with Renault selling 130,000 units since the launch of the Kwid in September 2015. There was a remarkable growth in the market share, reaching 4.5% in 2016.

There are different factors that led to its success, which include SUV-inspired designs, value for money, a good dealer network, and improved digital capabilities.

Renault India expanded its network through a number of tactics in order to boost its sales and service facilities and broaden its customer base. The company has adopted a strong strategy for its product lifecycle, which maintains customer loyalty.

Renault Kwid: A Make in India Success Story.

Indian skill alone was responsible for the design and production of Kwid. It supported the Prime Minister’s “Made in India” campaign.

Automotive manufacturers are now curating world-class models at a good price, which are great to boost the market and economy of the automobile industry.

Local manufacturing content is over 98% (2015), and this solidified its status as a grand success. Engineering principles used were specifically pertaining to the Indian market. The CMF-A platform was formed to curate vehicles for the global market for Renault-Nissan products.

India is all set to leave a mark on the global map, as it will be exporting the Kwid to several countries. Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, and South Africa are a few to start with.

Value for money in the hatchback segment is giving competition to the Maruti Suzuki Alto, Celerio, Wagon R, and Tata Tiago.

Attracting new buyers, especially young professionals, whose aim is to get a fashionable and affordable hatchback.

The company is trying to work on its safety features, though, to make it safe for both children and adult passengers.

The rebadged version of the Dacia Spring Electric vehicle—Kwid—is soon to launch in India (2026). The expected price is around Rs 7-8 lakh (ex-showroom). Renault’s board strategy to expand in the EV sector is a step to grow and fulfill demands for affordable electric vehicles.
