Why Maruti Baleno Continues to Rule the Roads in 2025?

A premium-looking budget-friendly car with many features, specifications, and performance. Comes with good mileage, along with a better safety rating. And more importantly, it provides a great, affordable range. 

Baleno had a facelift in February 2022, the car got some major and minor updates, which made it better than the previous models. It is Mauti’s one of the best-selling cars, which always succeeds in making a place in the top 10 rankings. 

In the FY 2024-25, it sold a total of 1,67,161 units, securing a 7th position in the list. Maruti’s cars generally do not get great safety ratings; however, by looking at its price segment, the car gets good ratings. 

Looks and Design

Maruti Baleno got a premium, sporty look from the outside, which comes with an LED Projector Headlamp, DRLs, NEXWave Grille, Bold Chrome Strip, Sporty & Wide bumper, LED Fog Lamps, and a sporty appearance from the front design. 

Clean Lines, Coupe-like Roofline,dual-tone alloy wheels, Door-mounted Mirrors, and Subtle Rear Spoiler are there in the side design. 

And from the rear design, it has NEXtre LED Tail Lamps, Bold “BALENO” badging, bumper Dual-tone design, and Rear Wiper or Defogger.

A dual-tone sophisticated interior with black and blue colours. 

Maruti Baleno Performance 

It is available in petrol and CNG variants. Along with smart hybrid technology.  Petrol engine of 1.2 litres K-series dualjet with the capacity of 1100cc, generating power of 88.5bhp (6000RPM), and 113nm torque(4400rpm).

That can go from 0 to 100kmph in 11-12 seconds. Offers FWD and BS6 Phase 2. And petrol provides a mileage of 22.35km/l in manual and 22.94km/l automatic. 

The CNG engine is a 1.2-litre K12N, 4-cylinder, with a maximum power of 76.43bhp (6000rpm) at 98.5nm torque (4300rpm). CNG provides a mileage of 30.61 km/kg (as per ARAI). 

CNG has a fuel tank of 7.3 – 8.3kg, whereas petrol has a 37-litre fuel capacity. 

Dimensions 

It has length, width, and a height of 3990mm, 1745mm, and 1500mm. A wheelbase of 2520mm. Gross weight of 1360 – 1450kg. Ground clearance of 170mm. And a tyre size of 185/65 R15 and 195/55 R16. Along with a boot space of 339 litres, only 50 litres with CNG.

Safety 

The car got a 4-star safety rating by Bharat NCAP for the adult occupant and a 3-star rating for the child occupant. For safety purposes, the car got 6 airbags, ABS with EBD,360° camera, parking sensor, disc front and drum rear brakes, ISOFIX Child Seat Mounts, ESP (Electronic Stability Program). 

Pricing and Competition 

The starting price of the car is 6.70 lakh rupees. And model-wise, the price rises to 9.92 lakh rupees. Toyota Glanza, Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20, and Maruti Suzuki Swift are the rivals of the car. 

It provides good features at a great price range. The safety rating of this car is also very good at this price range. However, it does not have a sunroof, which is said as a drawback of the vehicle.
