Hero Mavrick 440: Aborted? Really!

Hero Corp is one of the largest 2-wheeler manufacturers, creating budget-friendly motorcycles for the Indian consumer. The modern roaster, Hero Mavrick 440, was unveiled to command the Indian Highways at Hero World 2024.

  • Post its launch, there were combined sales of Hero Mavrick 440 and Harley-Davidson X440 of 12,188 units in April -December 2024.
  • There is no explicit unit count of Hero Mavrick 440 sold, but it was a part of the overall growth and sales. Initially, the sales of Hero Mavrick 440 had a slow-moving sales figure; it never reached 4 digits. In January 2025, there was a massive drop and downfall in the sales of over 50 units.
  • It did attract consumers with discounts on e-commerce platforms, trying to sweeten deals.
  • By April 2025, the sales declined further more leading to almost zero.
  • Being the in the same segment Harley Harley-Davidson X440 did a better job. Declining sales have forced the company to stop production.
  • Indian Market is being horned by its competitors like Royal Enfield Classic 350, Meteor 350, Bullet 350, Jawa 42 Bobber.
  • Particularly in the price range, it had existing rivals that included Triumph Speed, Harley-Davidson X440, 400, TVS Rohini, and  Honda CB350.
  • Hero Mavrick 440 had issues with after-sales, especially with spare parts, which had a negative repercussion on its Market appeal.
  • Volumes of Sales have dropped down hitting rock bottom to zero for a few months, and it was not able to sell triple-digit units in a month on average.
  •  Motor dealers have been closed and motor dealers have terminated bookings, though there has not been any official confirmation by the company yet. It’s rumoured as gone off the Indian roadways.
  • The company has not manufactured a single Hero Mavrick 440 for three months.

Hero Mavrick 440: Premium & most expensive

Hero Mavrick 440 was considered the Most Premier and finest bike manufactured by Hero Motor Corp. Being elite, it was supreme with its price range and marked as the most expensive motorcycle. Base variant price Rs 1,99500/- ex-showroom to top variant Rs 2,24,500/-. It did offer a blend of affordability, features, and performance at its entry point, creating competition for its rivals in the 440cc segment, but it failed to deliver good sales in 2025.

A sudden departure only after 18 months of its launch. Does it deserve an exit? Unfortunately, Hero Mavrick 440 failed to grab the attention of the Indian Consumers who definitely discontinued to be fascinated with Hero Mavrick 440’s practical features, which is surprisingly leading to its exit. Though Hero Corp has given a quiet exit to its Hero Mavrick 440, it shall continue to support its loyal customers with service for Life.

Hero Mavrick 440: Marks an early end of an era: Rise New Mavrick 440

  • Hero Corp will either try to tackle this unforeseen exit by giving rise to another upgraded version.
  • Rumoured updates say that the Hero Mavrick 440 (2025) is expected to make a comeback in December 2025, with prices ranging from Rs 2,10,000- Rs 2,20,000/-.
  • New upgraded variants with TFT features, Smart High-tech facilities, super suspension setups, including an inverted fork from the X440, better performance, and a great deal of cosmetic upgrades are expected.
  • Hero Mavrick scrambler is going to step in, along with new features and aesthetics.
  • It could also make space for Harley-Davidson X440 to increase sales.

Hero Mavrick 440, being the most expensive model it shall stay a diminished and understated version in this segment.

In spite of all the attempts to differentiate it with its visual appearance & ergonomics, its uninspired reception has, in the short run of 18 months, led to its withdrawal from the roaster.
