BMW S1000 R 2025: Price, Features & Performance

The new 2025 BMW S1000 R launched in India on September 15, with an ex-showroom price of ₹19.90 lakh. The model includes improved performance, leading technological features, new cosmetic updates and offers a greater range of customization options, to solidify its standing in the premium roadster segment.

Engine and Performance

The BMW S1000 R employs a 999 cc, inline four cylinder engine, liquid-cooled, constructed for high-revving scenarios, and use within comfort and for practical purposes on a daily basis.

It delivers a power of 170 hp and a maximum torque of 114 Nm at 9,250 rpm, this generates a strong mid range pull through acceleration. 

The motorcycle achieves a speed of  0 to 100 km/h in only 3.2 seconds, making it one of the fastest motorcycles in its class. It has an electronically limited maximum speed of 250 km/h in consideration of performance and rider safety.  

To enhance the acceleration, the revised final drive ratio and second gear have been introduced to provide real-world riding response time compared to its previous models.

Chassis, Suspension & Braking

The motorcycle is built on a lightweight aluminium frame possessing a bold  naked design that emphasizes its sporty roadster style.

It is fitted with a 45mm upside-down front fork (USD) and rear monoshock, providing good stability with confidence-inspiring handling.

Powerful braking is provided with dual discs at the front and a single disc in the rear resulting in a smooth and consistent brake performance.

A Dual-channel ABS system paired with dynamic traction control is provided in the motorcycle to ensure safety driving in any riding condition.

Features & Safety

The BMW S1000 R features starts with a 6.5-inch full TFT digital display that supports smartphone connectivity and built-in navigation, keeping riders connected while driving.

It features BMW Headlight Pro System with LED daytime running lights to help riders see and be seen. 

Riding modes are available with both Standard and Pro options, along with customisable settings that best suit an individual’s riding style or conditions.

An M Quick-action throttle works alongside the dynamic traction control system to deliver sharp throttle response and precise power delivery. Safety and convenience is ensured by features like ABS Pro, an integrated emergency call (E-Call) system and an under seat USB-C Charger

The motorcycle adding to its advanced features include electronic rider aids such as slide control, launch control, and a pitlane limiter boosting a rider’s confidence both on road as well as on the track.

Packages and Colour Options

The motorcycles come with a range of packages to serve different rider preferences.

  • The Dynamic Package increases performance by adding Dynamic Damping Control, the Pro riding modes, a Shift Assistant Pro, and an engine spoiler. 
  • The Comfort Package adds convenience features like Keyless Ride, cruise control, heated grips and tyre-pressure monitoring 
  • The M Sport Package brings M Motorsport graphics, an M Sport seat, lightweight battery, forged wheels, and other racing components specifically designed for track-riders.

The BMW S1000 R is available in colour options like “Blackstorm Metallic” in standard range, while the Style Sport trim comes in an exclusive “Bluefire with Mugiallo Yellow” finish. The M Package will come in “Lightweight Uni paintwork combined with M Motorsport graphics” enhancing its aggressive look and performance-oriented identity.

BMW S1000 R Price and Rivals

The BMW S1000 R on-road price slightly depends on various cities. Here are some estimated on-road  (ex-showroom + RTO + Insurance) for the S1000 R.

The S1000 R standard variant will have an on-road price in Mumbai of approximately ₹21,55,000, and the Pro M Sport variant of ₹26,24,000. 

In Bangalore, the on-road prices will be ₹22,10,000 for the standard version, and ₹27,09,000 for the Pro M Sport variant.

 In Delhi, the on-road price for the S 1000 R Standard model is about ₹ 21,98,000, while prices of premiums/models (Pro, M Sport) will be on the higher end. 

The BMW S 1000 R goes up against some of the most powerful nakeds in its segment. 

Main competitors consist of the Ducati Streetfighter V4, with costs commencing at around ₹24.62 lakh, the Kawasaki Z H2 with the base model priced at ₹24.18 lakh and a SE variant ranging from ₹24.18 to ₹28.59 lakh at the top end, and the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS debuted priced at ₹20.39 lakh.
