The Tata Nano, which got the status of “people’s car,” was launched in 2008 to become the world’s cheapest car. Launched at a price of just ₹1 lakh, the car was built with an intent of making a compact, 4-seater and affordable car for everyone.
While the intent of launching it was pure-hearted, it was perceived as a “cheap car” which lacked safety features and did not meet customer expectations. Eventually, production of Nano was discontinued in 2018.
But recently, there are news across social media and blogs that Nano is making a comback in late 2025 or in 2026. They claim a new EV Nano to be launched in the future. Read further to see if these are just rumours or Tata Motors is really going to launch EV Nano.
The Speculating News: Features of Nano EV
The reports in social media and Blog posts claim that Nano EV will have modern features like LED lighting, Stylish alloy wheels, and smoother appearance.
The interior is expected to be minimal yet futuristic, like a digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. Other features like Bluetooth, USB connectivity, optional sunroof, and reclining seats are expected to be present.
Different reports are giving different data, but on average, a 40+ mileage is expected. The price of Nano EV or hybrid is expected to be around ₹3–4.5 lakhs.
The Moment Of Truth. What We Know and What We Don’t
The excitement of welcoming Nano EV can be seen in social media but Tata Motors has not made any official announcement about relaunching Nano. Neither as a petrol version nor as an electric vehicle.
Even the images that are going viral are said to be edited or AI-generated pictures. Tata Motors has not given any official image of the car.
And the description of Nano EV posted on blog sites is also just rumours, which are likely to be copied from other EV cars.
Do People Wish to Get Nano Back?
The excitement says it all. The idea of launching an Electric Nano seems appealing to many.
Considering the factors like Rising Metropolitan Traffic jams and rising prices in the automotive industry, a compact and affordable Nano would solve these problems.
Also, the fact that demand for electric vehicles is rising, it is assumed that an electric EV will do good in the market. Overall, a compact, low-cost electric EV would be perfect for the needs of customers.
Final Words: Real or Rumours?
As of now, all the reports suggesting Nano EV launch are just rumors. There is no official confirmation from Tata Motors.
While they are rumors now, Tata Motors might plan to launch an affordable EV, considering the rising demand for it.
