The Mahindra Thar has been one of the preferred choices for off-roading lovers in recent years. The vehicle is set to launch in a new electric variant. Let’s look at the price, features, and everything related to Thar EV.
It was October 2010 when the first Thar was launched. Previously, it was the Mahindra MM540 that was replaced or modernised by it. That later came out as a huge success for Mahindra. The car offers great off-roading skills. The electric model of Thar is expected to launch by the first quarter of 2026.
Currently, it is one of the best-selling Mahindra cars. More than 80,000 units of the Mahindra Thar have been sold in the Financial Year 2025. Now, Mahindra wants to replicate the success of its electric variant also. Currently, it is named Vision.T. The concept of this car will be revealed on Independence Day 2025.
Looks and Design

It could have a different look from its fueled variants. A boxy look from the front and side was seen. The elements of its design are different. And it got the same design for the tail lamp from both front and back.
Expected Dimensions
It could have a length of 4428mm, a width of 1870mm, and a height of 1923mm. Along with that, a wheelbase of 2850mm will also be there. And a tyre size of 275/65 R18 with 18-inches alloy wheels. Since it is THAR, it will have off-roading skills with the ground clearance of 250-300mm.
Mahindra Thar Electric Performance
The car will offer dual motors. The front motor of 80 kW powers the rear motor will be of 170-210 kW power. It will support 60-80 kWh batteries. And with the 175 kWh fast charger, it could reach up to 80% in less than 30 minutes. In real-life conditions, with these performances, the car may have a range of 350-400 km.

The interior of Thar Ev is not revealed yet, but it is expected to have these features:

The Mahindra Thar got a 4-star rating by Global NCAP for both occupants. And the electric variant could also get the same, or even better.
Pricing and Competition
The car may start at a price range of around 20 lakh rupees and may rise to 25 lakh rupees. It can be said to be a good and affordable price because the difference between its electric and fuel variants is not very high.
The car will face strong competition from the Tata Curvv EV, Nexon EV, and MG ZS EV.
The car will enter the Indian market with high expectations. If they manage to fulfil it, this would be a great success in the electric market.
