Budget-Conscious Picks SUV Line-Ups

SUVs with 7-seaters are the most preferred cars to buy for joint families. Renault, Maruti Suzuki, and Mahindra have curated several SUVs for people who are looking for a budget-friendly car.

7-Seater SUVs Under 10 Lakh Rupees

Renault Triber

It is considered one of the best budget-friendly 7-seater cars, with features such as an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with a 7-inch digital driver display, and a 7-seater capacity with the removal of the 3rd row for more space. The top variant also includes extra airbags and more features. It has an engine of 999 cc, and a 3‑cylinder petrol (BR10).

For safety purposes, it has a 4-star adult protection and 3-star child protection rating by Global NCAP (in 2021). It has Dual front and side airbags (4‑airbag on higher trims), seat belt reminder, Tyre-pressure Monitoring System, and Traction Control System (TCS).

However, in the 2024 retest (for Africa), it received only a 2-star rating by Global NCAP  because of the changes made in testing criteria by Global NCAP in the past few years. Also, there are some concerns regarding its structure, and the bodyshell is also unstable. It offers a total of 10 variants, including the CNG variant. The price of its base model starts from 5.99 lakh and increases to 8.97 lakh for its top variant.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (Base Manual)

With the price of 9.84 lakh (slightly less than 10 lakh), it has a 1462CC, 1.5 L K15C petrol, Smart‑Hybrid engine. It has a basic integrated audio system with no touchscreen display and a foldable third row for more space.

It received a 3-star adult and children rating by Global NCAP in 2019. For its African version, it got just a 1-star adult and a 2-star child rating in 2024. But the bodyshell was considered stable for the Indian market. Coming with a tank capacity of 45 litres, CNG can also be fitted by the company at a higher cost and gives a mileage of 20 kmpl. It is flexible as well as spacious in its 7-seater layout. Other variants of this car provide more features, but the price is more than 10 lakh.

Mahindra Bolero Neo

The Mahindra Bolero Neo is the base model of this car, which only supports its price range. Bolero Neo Plus is the other variant of this car (which comes at around 11.5 lakh and offers a 9-seater). It comes with a price of around 9.75 lakh and includes a diesel variant.

It is mainly suitable for people in rural areas and comes with an engine of 1.5 L mHawk75 turbo-diesel, offering a mileage of 17.3 kmpl. A fuel tank capacity of 60 litres is one of its features, along with dual front airbags, Manual AC, manual seats, and a CD audio system with USB/AUX/Bluetooth for infotainment.

In terms of safety, it got just one star for child and the same for adult protection by Global NCAP, making it the lowest-rated Mahindra SUV. It failed to provide basic precautionary facilities, such as side airbags and a full seatbelt setup in all rows. However, it is suitable for off-roading.
